Today I’ll be explaining my case for Lupe Fiasco being a recording artist that displays lyrical ability in hip hop music.

Does Hip Hop Have Lyrics?

Hip Hop absolutely has lyrical ability as a stat point for any artist that represents the genre. Lupe Fiasco is actually a great reference for anybody to reflect on his music to build a valid appreciation for Hip Hop. There’s several considerations that’s made in appreciation for the lyrics that enhance the enjoyment of the beat is:

Optimal Balance Between Task Difficulty and Skill Demonstration

If we look at the song Out Of My Head it features Trey Songz. We can get an idea of how tricky this beat will be to slide on when you consider the amount of instruments included. It could easily be considered pop in some facets, but lyrics are added at smooth points of the drums.

Words I Never Said – One Of The Most Impressive Rhyme Schemes I’ve Heard

The next song for reference is Words I Never Said. I clearly got more into his personal catalog around the time Lasers dropped. This song has more of a robotic acquisition that feels nothing short of needed on this futuristic sound at the time. There’s a 4 step pattern that’s repeatedly added through each verse. There’s actually 3 full verses following the chorus and bridge provided by Skylar Grey. You will find plenty of rhymes stuffed in this track alone.

Allegory Usage In a Feature

I’ll reference Lupe Fiasco’s verse in Touch The Sky next to continue. His most familiar to me was the constant use of Alleghorys in his time. It’s perspective but there were heavy business references that gave it more a session of validation through association situation.

The Show Goes On Is One Of The Most Impactful Clean Metaphor Usage In A Rap Song

Next we’ll move on to yes another song from Lasers, The Show Goes On. The figurative language that Lupe uses in this song is metaphor usage, not as many similes but that’s what makes the song personal. It paints allusions of realistic imagery. It’s a compilation of personal experiences that can easily feel relatable for anybody wanting a realistic perspective of life.

The Importance Of Lupe’s Verse Structure in Past My Shades

This is a feature on B.o.B’s The Adventures of Bobby Ray album released in 2010. The song wasn’t a radio hit but it strengthened the quality of a solid body of work. Some that actually would even go on to have radio success. This song adds depth to the confidence that’s promoted throughout the track.

Final Thoughts

Lupe is easily considered one of the greats in hip hop. His catalog is undeniable and he continues to release music even today. He’s always dropping knowledge, and has lyrics that’s made hip hop even better. Choosing his catalog was a great example of lyric appreciation. Do you think I forgot anything?
