There’s several lyrics that shifted the political voice in Hip Hop culture. I think of some of the most iconic beats from some of the most memorable names in hip hop and a few set of lyrics without a doubt changed our opinions of politics in world on both a regional and global level. One of the first songs that come to mind when thinking about this topic in particular is HiiPower.

HiiPower is a song by multi grammy
award winning artist Kendrick Lamar. I can remember the moment when this particular Song went viral— personally my high school. There’s Several references to highly influential figures politically; Marcus Garvey, Martin Luther King, and even Malcolm X are just a few names that pop up when you listen to this song. Kendrick was out of his civilized mind making this song because he was specking from the POV of Someone just as big as these already influential figures in human rights.
I wanna even throw in a sleeper like Dr. Aden.

Dr. Aden is a song that actually exposes political corruption thanks to the great B.o.B.
This was not a popular pick by any means— at least not when I was canvassing hard for this specific rapper and song in high school.
It’s just masterful and crafty storytelling done by Bobby Ray.
It makes you think about politics because it tackles one of the most powerful forces that influences the political landscape— Big Pharma.
This song though, it does another POV play in doing a narrative spotlight on a fictional doctor called Aden.
