Today we’re gonna talk about making money with freelancing- specifically where to start. It starts with choosing a skill that’s in demand. From there, you’re gonna build a basic portfolio. And then you’re going to focus on targeting your first clients through direct outreach— ideally hosted on user friendly platforms.
Finding a Skill That’s In Demand
Finding skills that’s in demand is the goal because it ensures that your labor will be fruitful.
It’s only possible through doing market research- that means analysis’ of kinds from industry history, market value, prospect demographics, etc.
I’ve learned that there’s Some industries that will Continuously expand— fitness, love and relationships, things like those that could be started and maintained.
There’s not much of a cookie cutter method that I could recommend with finding a skill that proves to be profitable— you have to keep a level of critical thinking edge to your personality if you hope to stay crafty in this area.
Building a Basic Portfolio
A basic porfolio is an absolute must to have if you’re trying to showcase skills among other potential prospects.
The first thing you need to do is create a hero intro— everybody appreciates a great protagonist and antagonist.
That includes the likes of building this savior of the oppressed into having a compelling story that’ll explain everything about them— everything interesting.
It continues to where you need to have a solid 3 to 5 projects that could be displayed for those interested.
And last is having a contact page on display— your prospect needs to know how to get in touch with you.
That’s standard.
Opening a Line for Direct Communication
I would say that eliminating all of the extra lines to get in touch with somebody eliminates most headaches when talking about communicating.
There’s too many hoops to have to jump through when you compare to another person that chooses to solely run their entire business’s operation from multiple social media apps.
And that’s just to communicate with people that only might want to do business.
There’s too many people that decide to have several accounts and attempt to simultaneously operate from them all.
The flaw there is that messages get scattered, potential business gets missed out on because said person’s not available on one site over the next, and it becomes just a huge mess to keep up with.
I look at there being only 2 solid options that could be capitalized when opening a way to discuss things with potential clients— domain specific emails and DMs with their preferred social media.
