Why Generation X Is Called The Toughest
Their level of independence is almost unprecedented. They’ve been known as the generation that was able to figure out a way to go without far beyond what their parents and previous generations could do. When you’re able to prove independence, it secures a level of toughness that just has to be acknowledged. Becoming independent shows competence. Ultimately it proves that you can handle anything the world has to offer. It’s just the grit needed to push you over the top of remaining competition.
They have a “whatever” mindset that’s different than most generations I’ve gotten a chance to experience. I’m not so committed to dishing out that whatever mindset against most things but it definitely played a role in personal successes I was gifted with in life. Having this mindset places whoever has it in a spot on a timeline as I see it. It’s a place near being a pioneer and eliminating ego in order to stay relevant at least. This is important to have in relation to a career because this could be the make or break point with any individual that believes they’re on the brink of being a successful fit in their chosen industry. Do you have what it takes? What did the greats do to survive and eventually thrive in their line of work?
Being able to adapt is yet another quality of the Generation X that deserves attention too. They might’ve had some of the most rapid changes they’ve had to go through over the span of their lifestyle. I mean they’ve watched one form of entertainment quickly become obsolete as others would emerge. That applies to several mediums too: television, house phones, internet arguably and for some, even the job markets.
