Making authentic music takes having the successful proof of balance when it comes to acquiring and exercising these 3 values:
Money: One Of The Main Roots of Validation When Speaking Music
Money became one of the symbols of success in hip hop. You’re getting it straight from the energy of a person that was authentically born and raised in the culture. I’m speaking as a Black American that’s ancestral roots traces back to the beginning of one of the most popular genres of music nationwide, and even globally.
So understand that starting off from this lens will be appropriate and necessary to properly connect the dots with how success in this region particularly affects the outcomes of other types of music as well. If you didn’t know, hip-hop started off as a response to everything that was negative about the streets.
Eventually it would go on to speak about successes that cultivated just by remaining true to the culture. A large majority of that success would be seen as acquiring money. What is it about the money that paralleled success though?
Money in my own experience would prove you were credible. It meant that whatever you had to say was true. That might seem surface level of a pass to have, but it’s what reality would be for me. Then all of a sudden, it would go on to be an indicator of actual talent. Everybody that rapped, and could do it well would for some reason go on to have money.
This would only further solidify the claims that money would be needed to become relevant at least in hip hop music.
Power: Boosting the credibility of your sound with demonstrating the action that happens with what you say
Power lays right next to money when you consider how easily trust is built when finances are introduced. Money is only trusted to a certain extent when you climb the ranks on the ways it’s obtained. One lesson you learn eventually is that some money is better than others, and not all money is valid. When power’s introduced, is displays the benefits that join having money.
Can you believe there’s some things money can’t buy? Let’s say you do. Well power explains why money is worth having a good majority of the time.
We’re actually shown all across the board with how satisfying financial obligations consistently eventually opens the doors for leverage. And for many, that leverage becomes power. Power persuades. It enforces. In many times it adds substances. I’d like to think of where money ends up being the sign that reads “caution: for display purposes only”.
However, this is where power ends up being the functional aspect of the display.
Respect: The Impact That’s Left On The World That Was Around Before You
Respect is lastly what I would like to define as the lasting effects of your works. It’s easily seen as the finishing touches and final reviews on what it is that you’ve done. It’s the starting foundation for many people around the world. There’s a point in time where the respect is revealed in many cases to be broken down as the reputation of the person (or team) in question.
Most of everything else that you do to obtain the last 2 qualities can become a mystery to many. But there’s very few cases where there’s not a supporting story where what you did positively impacted the life of another person.
We see this in music where there’s names in the industry that put in so much positive work to the point where their name alone is going to be a guaranteed hit with whoever collaborates with them.These are the people that get what many sees as special treatment.
They get privileges that many other would like to have. It’s connected to power because one is usually enforced, while the other is insisted.
